need to find custom choke tube maker
does anyone know a gunsmith that makes choke tubes,I purchased a remington 1100 lw 20ga 3" mag that started life with a 28" full choke barrel, somewhere in life it was cut down to 26" and the barrel was threaded for screw-in inside thread thin wall type chokes, the choke in the barrel now looks like a colonial but its not,the only markings on it are TTC,it is an improved cylinder and I would love to get some more chokes made before next hunting season so my 12yr old can squirrel hunt with it.thanks

do a member search for bobski and drop him an email.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
If Bobski can't tell you, my best guess is a Hastings, Carlson, or Briley choke tube. These are the three main choke manf. used. 0 -

Sharpshooter,
Briley in Houston, TX can not be beat for this kind of work. I have several Ithaca/SKB 12's and 20's as well as two 1100's (one 28 ga. and one .410) that Briley threaded and made chokes tubes to fit. I could not be happier with their work.
Stick with a "brand name" for this kind of work. You can find other choke tube makers but if there is a problem it's nice to have somebody substantial to go back to. I had a barrel fail after being threaded and Briley stood behind the work, no questions asked, and replaced a very hard to find SKB 12 gauge barrel. They had to find one in Canada to match the damaged one. They even went so far as to cut off and rethread the failed barrel and make super long tubes so I could continue to shoot sporting clays until they found my replacement barrel.
Good luck with your search.0 -
Call Briley and talk to Mike. He will have you send a tube from your shot gun and the work will be first rate.

Have you talked to Colonial?
Here is a link to their page.

I have always found them very helpful and they will know if it is their product. It will be much faster if you speak to them first.

thanks for the information,I talked to colonial before I made this post and they confirmed it was not their choke, they offered to build me one if I sent them the one I have. The only problem was they did not know when they could get to it said it may be several weeks.I did not want my only choke lost and my barrel be useless,I would not mind sending it off to someone who would guarantee sending it back in a couple of weeks I'll send extra money for return postage.I'll try calling Briley's next week, thanks 0
