dickson was the importer, they were big importers of small handguns before 1968, i believe the panther is a product of rhom gmbh (RG).

Thanks for the information. This is a rifle, 30-06, made on a Mauser action with a free floating barrel. It is definitely not a cheap revolver.

If it has English Proof Marks and a rear sight mounted on a barrel rib, forward of the receiver, it was made by John Dickson & Sons of Edinburgh Scotland. They were built on both Belgian and German Mauser actions.
Doubt if very many made it to the states, although they were chambered for modern American cartridges. Probably dates to the 60's.
Kind of hard to put a price on? As their uncommon, you have little precedence to base a fair market value on?

Good to hear from rufe-snow again. I bought this gun on GB. Last night I took the stock off and did a lot of looking. The rifle has a Timney trigger, which I assume means the original trigger was replaced. It is also glass bedded. There are 3 proof marks on it but the only one I can read means Munich since 1968. The rear sight is the fold down type. On the bottom of the barrell there is a stamp, FW.Heym. I plan to write the company a letter. Thye serial number is marked on both the barrell and receiver. There in another number on the barrell 1164. Doies this mean it was made in November, 1964?
Thanks.

If there are no English proofs on the rifle ( even though it has the " Dickson " name on it ) it never saw England.
Just going over my book, There is a provision in the German Proof Law for adding the month and year of proof, in this format " mm/yy ".
Just an addendum, as the previous poster noted, there was a American importer/wholesaler who imported firearms back in the 60's under the "DICKSON" name. All I have ever run into, have been inexpensive handguns. "PERHAPS" ??? he also brought in some rifles also?
