Colt Revolver info needed
A family member has come up with a Colt US Army model 1901 .38 special revolver. It belonged to a pilot who ditched during takeoff from a carrier in around 1939 or 40.He has passed it along as a family keepsake, but there is very little info on it besides this.I would like to find out a little about that model of pistol,as well as a value for it.It is in excellent working order, but does show some rust and pitting on the outside, due to the salt water immersion. It also has jade circular inlays in the wooden grips.

Father in-law called me today because I always answer his gun questions, this one I need help on. Somebody wants to trade him a Colt Officers Model 5 shot revolver, 5 inch barrel, double action, in 32/20 WCF, it's been re-blued, condition good. I tried looking it up in my books and have some contradictions according to my info, any help from you experts? Does it have any value? 0 -
10-4 on the contradictions. The Colt Officers Model was not made in .32-20 (.32WCF) but it was made in .32 Colt. The Officer's Model was a 6 shot revolver. Count those holes in the cyl and see if the barrel is not marked Official Police or Police Positive Special. .32-20 revolvers were available in those two models prior to WWII. If it is indeed a 5 shot Officers Model in .32-20 cal it will be a rare item. 0 -
Also consider Army Special, the same frame as Officers, just an earlier name and did exist in .32-20. 0
