Windicator
I am considering buying a EAA Windicator .38 snubnose for a backup carry gun. The dealer cost is only $152. Are these revolvers decent quality? I saw another post w/some info and wanted any opinions/experience w/ these guns.

IF this is the little gun I am thinking of it actually looks pretty good, BUT the barrel that you see is not what you get. The thick diameter barrel with the vent rib on top is just a sleeve with one tiny little pin holding it in place over a small diameter real barrel. I saw one before that had shot lose and the "barrel" would flop around just handling it. It would probably have fallen off if you tried to shoot it. Granted any gun will not work properly when missing parts, but I don't trust them.

take a look at taurus 38s. they arent as $ as a smith 0 -
Taurus M-85's are better revolvers. Right here on GB you've got 'em running from $150 to $250
So for the same money to around $100 more your have a better pistol, and if your talking a backup piece ... in the M-85 you'll have one with a better performance record.
Lastly, from time to time, there are S&W M-36, M-37 and even an occassional M-12 that go for $275 or less.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
Take that $152 and use it as a down payment on a quality firearm.
Here check this one out. I have one and it makes a great backup:
