I have a #7 Speer reloading manual. It has a section titled "Shoot Those Old Timers" by Maj. G. C. Nonte, Jr. It includes a load table that has loads for 45/90, 45 x 2 7/8, & 45/120. If this will help, email me a mailing address & I will copy it and send it to you.

Alaskan, according to my specimen data, Sharps loaded the .45-100 in three different case lengths: 2.625", 2.75" and 2.875" . . . you didn't indicate which of these applies to your firearm. Most of my references are packed, so I can't cite any loads, but if it were I - and I specifically am not advocating you do this, only thinking out loud - I think I'd start with a *mild* .45-90 load and work up. The .45-90 was chambered in a stronger, more modern, action than the Sharps rounds; caution would be the order of the day! If your rifle is a reproduction, the steels and design will be stronger than the original, of course.

AG, what Teak (Iconoclast) suggests is what I would advocate also. Since we don't know what you will be shooting this ammo in, it is not in our best interest to be recommending anything. HOWEVER.....the Accurate Reloader's Guide 2004 pamphlet has this to say: 45-90 caliber:... 300 gr. bullet: 35.1 gr. 5744, 405 gr. bullet: 31.5 gr. 5744, 500 gr bullet: 29.3 gr. 5744. For 45-110 caliber:... 300 gr. bullet: 39.6 gr. 5744, 405 gr. bullet: 34.7 gr. 5744, 500gr. bullet: 33.3 gr. 5744. These are starting loads, and do NOT list the 45-100 caliber. I would suggest starting with the 45-90 data IF...your gun is in safe condition and of modern manufacture. I will not be responsible for any damage or injury resulting from your using these suggestions. Perhaps you should call the company(s) whose powders you are going to use and ask for assistance. I should have mentioned that the above loads are for lead bullets. Emery
