    c.1890-1910. Many hundreds of thousands of utility-grade double shotguns were imported from Europe (notably Belgium) to address the huge demand of rural America - at a price point undercutting the domestic manufacturers. Today, these are lumped together as 'Belgian clunkers' regardless of the maker. Mostly true, but there were some well-made examples during that time.

    Yours, however, is a Belgian clunker. NOT proofed for smokeless powder, I'd imagine, so PLEASE do not attempt to shoot it. The actual maker may never be certainly identified, as there were hundreds of small gunmakers in the Liege area active during that period.

    The only value these carry today is as a decorator piece. Some of us actually accumulate them for research into the history of the type, but we are oddballs...
