I have both. The PA-63 is the smaller, I can stick it into my jeans' front pocket holsterless, no problem. With the Mak, I use either a shoulder rig or an IWB. But the Mak is considered to be more reliable.
Other comparisons: The PA has a thumbrest grip I didn't like, so I got some custom grips for it. Alternate grips for the Mak are easier to find. The PA runs a few bucks cheaper. Some people don't like the "non-standard" safety on the Mak. Maks hold 8 rounds, PA's only 7.
Spare parts for the Maks are easier to find, but PA's can sometimes use Walther parts.
Never use standard 9mm in either pistol, always use 9x18 Makarov-type ammo.
Hope all this helps.

I agree with everything Chunk says. Good advice. 0 -
Own both but bought the PA 63 just for the lightness of it being my ol lady is carrying it where she gets off work at 11 PM some nights. All that Chunk stated is true and the only thing I can add is that the PA 63 has a hard/long trigger pull for the first round. If weight is concideration, PA 63 IMHO. Both are very reliable. Just my 2 cents worth.
The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four Americans is suffering from some form of mental illness. Think of your three best friends. If they're okay, then it's you.

Yes, the PA-63 has a heavy DA trigger pull. But the main spring can be easily and cheaply replaced with a lighter one.
