I have two pro-points. One on a .22 Buckmark (nothing to do with your question), and the other on a 12 gauge pump slug gun shooting 3" mag slugs. This gun recoils hard enough to eject or partially eject the next shell ( I'm holding on tight to the pump "cob", trying to keep the gun very tight to my shoulder). I've used this setup for over 10 years with no problems. Love the pro-point, aquires the target VERY fast, and I shoot with both eyes open, so field of view is as much as I can see. Hope this helps.

Some info on the difference between a handgun vs rifle/shotgun.

Quite a bit of difference between recoil of a 454 vs a 12 guage slug shotgus, and very important is the frequency of shots taken.

    1. The 454 is a hand cannon, and has alot more "Free Recoil" than a shoulder mounted-supported long gun.
Stress is therefore much greater on mounting systems, and optics.

    2. Most slug guns are limited to 3 rounds when hunting.
Most sighting in is done with less shots than a revolver.
Hunting handguns have no limit to rounds for hunting.
Cylinder is usually 5 or 6 shots.
Ergo the # of shots made at the range, and hunting are substantially less, so the 'wear & tear' is duty cycle is much greater using a hand gun.

Combine #1, & #2, especially #2, then it's easy to see that if more factual, and accurate testing was done by companies alot of advertising would be different, and alot of products would simply not sell very well.

    Happy Bullet Holes!
