H&R 676 .22S, L, LR and Magnum
I have aquired an H&R 676 with a 12" barrel and two 6 shot cylinders. One cylinder is marked .22 S, L, and LR while the other is marked .22 Magnum. Correct me if I am wrong (it happens quite a bit) but I am under the impression that those rounds are not interchangable due to the fact that the LR bullet is different in dia. then then others bassed on some info from various web sites. Also, one of the gun parts suppliers lists alternate barrels. one for the .22S, L and LR vs. the .22 Magnum. A quick look at the manual says that all the rounds are interchangable bassed on the use of the correct cylinder.
How is accuracy affectd? Is there a saftey concern?
If someone could shed some light on this I would apprecate it.

The .22 magnum bullet is slightly larger. There is no safty concern since the barrel is sized for the .22 magnum bullet.
There is a slight degredation in accuracy for the .22 long rifle cylinder partly for this reason & partly because the rate of twist is not optimised for the slower bullet. I suspect the effect is so small that most of us (myself included) couldn't tell the difference.0
