Bases/Rings for Super Redhawk 454

Anyone know of non-Ruger rings that will fit (can't seem to find a Burris ring that will), or Ruger-to-Weaver bases other than offered by B-Square and Weigand?

    Warne makes an excellent Maxima ring that works.
    Somewhat limited availability due to Ruger design.
    Have some for sale, email me with your specs.

    Why not just use the ruger provided bases? How do you like the 454? I have the 9.25" barrel 44 mag. This is a "HUGE" gun in my hands, however, I would like to move to the 454 for carring in the woods. How is the recoil, weight of your 454 gun? I think I will go to the shorter barrel on the next super redhawk. Do you know anything about the 480 ruger??? How does it compare to the 454 and 44???

    muss I've had both the 454 and the 480 in the ruger SRH 7 1/2", to me the 454 was just plain nasty to shoot , very hard on the wrist, twisted it alot [V] now the 480 was more pleasant than the 454 more of a hard push back and up , still a lot more recoil than a 44mag but was manageable, in the end I decided that I really did not need either for deer hunting here in WI so sold both of them and went back to my Redhawks in 44mag and 45lc, if you plan on buying one I sure would shoot one before buying , to see what the recoil is like [;)]

    Gsky, That is what I thought, I have a hard time managing the 44, Mostly due to the heavy weight of the gun, The 9.25 inch barrel is real long. I tried with a scope and that was a disaster. I have a 357, maybe I should stay with it. I love shooting it and it is easy to handle. it is the 6" gp100. Thanks for the info.

    muss - I like the 454 a lot. I have a 7.5 barrel. A lot of people make note here that it is just nasty to shoot, but I dont think so. Im 6', 200, it kicks, but hey, Im not hurting after the range or anything. My girlfriend shoots it too and has no complaints. The 480 from what Ive read is less psi out the door than the 454 and therefore easier on the weaker wristed. As for energy downrange there are a few posts on here pertaining to that. The 454 will take the 45 LC too, so if your on a budget sometimes.... You can definitly tell the difference between the two!!!
