Used Rem Model 700
I was looking at a Remington 710. After posting here and hearing nothing good about it I purchased a used Rem Model 700 in a 270. The gun looks good. I have no experiance with the 270 and would like suggestions on factory loads for it. I plan to mount a new buckmaster Nikon 3x9x40 that I already own. And I'll most likely go with a leopold mount. The rifle came with some kinda funky see thru scope mounts and a simmons scope. I hate to buy used but was embarrassed to let my little advisor see me spend anymore in this direction right now with deer season just past. lol[:D]

The classic bullet weight for the 270 is 130 gr. There are a lot of good cartridges in this bullet weight. I have used the Winchester silver tips for years. 0 -
I've been using the Federal Premium in ballistic tip also in 130. Have shot m,any diff. types of ammo and this seems to group best in my 700 BDL. I think you will be much happier with your 700 than the 710 dumpola.[:p] Be nice to the warden and maybe you'll get a new scope.[;)] 0 -
I shoot federal premium 130 grain nostler balistic tips in my .270,
does a great job on those pesky deer[:D]

What did you give for the 700? Was it an ADL or BDL?

If your gun will shoot them accurately the Remington factory core-lock bullet ammo is good. Been my experience that some guns won't shoot them worth a darn but the terminal performance on game is excellent for the price, and you can find them anywhere you can buy ammo. -- I think the Federal Premium ammo line is on average the most accurate and some of the fastest loads you will find from a factory. Any of the bullets available in it will work on deer........[8D] 0 -
Thanks for the info. I picked it up today with a box of winchester 130 Gr ballistic tip thrown in. It's an ADL tho and I paid 3 bills for it. Can't wait til I get home and try it out. [:p]

My Rem.700 .270 does best for me with 130 gn pointed boatail(soft-tip).It will shoot 3/4 inch groups at 100 yds.
Sierra Bullets w/ 58 Gn. of 4831 powder.
Always dropped them Bucks right where they stood.

$300 isn't a bad price. I am trying to sell a Mod.700 ADL, 30-06, with a brand new Simmons Mod. 44MAG scope, and am asking $375 for it. Couple of local guys are interested, but waiting for income tax refunds...which in these particular two guys means that they probably haven't even filed their taxes yet! LOL
Was just curious if my price was out of line.

Since you have time before deer season opens again, try a bunch of different bullets through your rifle. Keep track of the results and when you find the one the rifle likes best you will know from the grouping you have found the one.
