Winchester?? Help
Hello Experts,
I need some help if you would be so kind, I came upon the back half of this old rifle the other day and I do not know what it is. It says Winchester Repeating Fire Arms on the butt. The only number I can find is on the underside of the Trigger Housing, it is number 165226. It has a Marble rear mount site with the numbers 20/05. Some other number are on there, but can not make them out. The stock, trigger, hammer, all seem to be in great shape. The only thing missing is the barrel. If anyone can tell me what this is, I would be forever in your dept. I will send picture upon request. My e-mail address is tom.martin23@verizon.net.
Thank you Gentlemen,

Hello Tom...
Take the tang sight off and see what it says on the upper tang. With a serial number in the location you mention, it most likely is a Model 1892 or Model 1894. If you would like, send me a picture of the loading port side of the frame (Win1885@msn.com). The loading gate on a Model 1892/92 is 1 3/64" long by 1/2" high, whereas the loading gate on a Model 1894/94 is 1 7/16" long.
