About 25 years ago, I had a "smith" drill and tap my 512 for a side mount. Has one inch rings. Works great. Can't determine the brand of mount, but am sure your "smith" can figure that one out. GW.

following GWNelson's post,..a good smith can drill and tap anything!!! as well as manufacture a mount. Just keep in mind,..the labor intensive nature of odd requests can run you into very high costs (not that it isn't worth it). I have no idea of the workings of the 512,..there probably is a "gunsmith special" mount made for it,..I was just offering a point.

I am certain my smith could make a mount for it,..as well as drill and tap it perfectly if I was dead set on scoping just such a rifle.

You may well be able to buy another rifle and have it scoped for less than the price of the job you are inquiring about. Just food for thought.

why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

Shucks, guys, if it's a Remington 512, Weaver type top mounts will work and are reasonable. Don't know what your local 'smiths charge to drill and tap 4 holes, but that's the extent of the hard (?) part!!!

to answer your question in a word "YES"
weaver 2 piece bases, #43 rear, #42 front are available also weaver #2 side mount. go to www. natchezss.com , talk to a gunsmith before you order them because he may already have them on hand. also if you don't already have a scope, some retailers offer mounting at an additional fee when you purchase the scope.

Right on folks! Help him scope his 512. Sometimes money is not the only consideration. My parents gave me mine, in the '40s. My eyes won't permit open sight shooting anymore. Wouldn't care if the "New" scoped .22 was available for Ten dollars. I want to use the one I grew up with. Thanks, and apologize for the length. This was my quarters worth. GW.

Is the top of your receiver grooved or solid. If its grooved it will be alot less expensive. Let me know if you cant find what you are looking for.[:)][:)]
