Lyman Super Targetspot

I recently got a pre-64 winchester 70 standard .30-06 with a lyman super targetspot scope on it. It is a nice looking setup, but how usuable is it? I do informal target shooting at 100-200 yards. From the prices I've seen lately, I could sell the scope and get a half decent new one. I prefer the looks and nostalgia of the targetspot, but is this old scope gonna go and break on me? Will it remain accurate sliding back and forth all the time? Thanks!!

    The Lyman Super Targetspot is a fantastic scope for a varmit rifle (or target rifle). I question why somebody put it on a standard hunting rifle, but I doubt that it will break. My choice for a Model 70 is a Leupold Vari-X II 3x9.

    I would sell the Lyman Super Targetspot and get a Lupold or Burris. Field of view is small for target scopes.
    There is good demand for your scope with the mounts and blocks and prices are high. Look at Ebxy, Gunbroker and Auctixnarms.
    If you want to keep the target scope look, buy a Unertl 15x ultra varmint scope with calibrated head. They are the best.
