Where can I find a factory replacement stock for this gun. I believe it was made by Dupont for Remington. Or what would be a quality replacement, and where could I find one online. Thanks!

can't go wrong with a 700 rem and a heavy barrel. To get the best,...have a gunsmith adjust the trigger down to around 2lbs or even 1.5lbs,..and be sure to do a proper break-in proceedure on the barrel. Patience is a virtue when doing this.

why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
    Got Balistics?

700's are known to be accurate. First things first you just gotta shoot it and see what you've got, some guns don't even need to be fooled with. Adjusting the trigger is almost a necessity these days with factory set 6+pound trigger pulls, but here's a few tips that work for me. Take a piece of paper and slide it between the wood and barrel up and down the barrel channel. Some guns prefer to be "free floated" in other words stock does not touch the barrel except near the chamber, some guns prefer a little contact at the fore end. Just check yours and see what you have, if there is inconsistent contact you might look at eventually touching up the barrel channel to float it. Another minor thing is check that the bolt contacts steel when it closes and does not rest on the stock. There's many other tips some of the target shooting guys could help more with I'm sure.

no doubt that the rifle is a .223 or 22-250 (although I guess it could be a .243WIN) doesn't matter! YOU MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE!!! The 700 VS's are the class of the factory varmint guns!!! You can probably get a trigger job done for $50.00 or less to help the trigger pull and thus the accuracy potential. The gun is already in an H_S prcision stock with the full length aluminum bedding block and the calibers it comes in are already known to be inherrently accurate!! So a bedding job for you is probably not needed! ENJOY!!! And also keep in mind that the guys who try to shoot groups in the .1's with factory guns are chasing dreams!!! Bed 'em, float 'em, load for them, .....chasing dreams!! Your gun will do in the .5's just like it is and that equals a bunch of dead varmints!!!! GHD
