Scope Mounts for Herr Mauser's Sporting Rifles
Years ago, I recall seeing pictures of Mauser Sporting Rifles with what appeared to be very low mounts. Looked neaternhell but made me wonder how difficult it was to load the live ones and then eject the empties. Is it my faulty memory banks or did Mauser make a really low scope mount?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Yes, they did. Before WWI in fact. The standard practice was an offset scope mounted on the left side of the receiver. This type gave the appearance of sitting right upon, or just a little off, the action
Later, the high turret and some claw mounts had enough clearance to place them directly over the axis of the bore.

p3skyking - Thanks. Really liked the way they looked but would not want that type of mount on a rifle. Thanks for clearing that up. 0
