Depends on which one you are talking about. The CP-1 "space gun" had a total recall. Their SIG and Beretta clones are actually real nice guns.

As previously mentioned, the model "CP-1" had a recall. It was a totally different design than the other Vektor pistols offered. The Z88, SP1 and SP2, as well as the SP1/SP2 Compact and SP1/SP2 Sport and Competition models were variations of the Beretta design. These models were made under license from Beretta. The Z88 and SP1 full size will take the standard Beretta 92FS mags. The SP2 will take Beretta 96 mags. The Compact models will accept the Beretta mags as well, but they will stick out due to their shorter grip. I have one each of the Compacts available for sale. They are well built and have the ability to be carried "cocked and locked", unlike a Beretta 92/96 series. These are standard double action guns with a double action first shot and single action follow-up shots.

The only recall to date that I have seen was on the CP-1 which was a completely different mechanical design than all of the other Vektor models. So unless that is the one you were looking at, you should be able to trust your eyes, they are well made guns.

I had a CP-1...thought it was pretty cool. The recall problem had something to do with the internal hammer firing if the pistol was bumped. Thinking it would be repaired, I sent it back as they had the recall. A few weeks later, I rec'd a check for $500.00. I was disappointed that I didn't have the gun. I eventually found anotherone here on GB and maybe it will be worth something someday.

First of all, it is Vektor, not Vector.

The Beretta M92 clones are fine. The closed slide appeals to some as superior to the Beretta open slide. Vektor had some neat 17-round magazines that work in the Beretta M92/96.

The CP-1 is a delayed blowback 9x19 pistol. Its shape and even the use of color on it are very striking. I have one, and I, and those to whom I sold them, kept them rather than sell them back to Vektor. I never shoot or carry it (and never would since it is bigger and heavier and holds fewer rounds than the Kel-Tec P-11), but I love the looks of it. About every six months, I get another offer to buy back the guns, and even received a telephone call. At some point, I suppose the attempts at buyback will end. Maybe they already have.
