Walther PP Super

Just got a Walther PP Super. Shoots 9 x 18 Police ammo. I notice the ammo is a bit expensive when you can find it. Does anyone know of a conversion available, in .380 or some other caliber?

    Don't tell them you want "Police" ammo, just say 9x18 Makarov.

    It wouldn't be wise to try to fire 9mm Makarov ammo in the Walther PP Super pistol, even if you could get it to feed and chamber.

    The projectile diameter of the 9mm Makarov is .363, vis a vis .355 for the 9mm Police/Ultra.

    Just mount a new barrel, Numrich carries them for $43, in .32 or .380.

    I heard the same thing. The Makarov round is not compatible the Police/Ultra round. That's why I'd like to convert this gun, if possible.

    Rufe hit it on the head. The 9x18 Police isn't interchangable with the 9x18 Makarov. That's a sure way to blow a gun up in your hand. You should be able to trim down some 9x19 brass and load you own though. If I remember correctly the case dimensions are close enough.

    While you are waiting, I have 4 original boxes of Geco 9x18 Ultra or "police" ammo. It has a 94 gr FMJFP bullet and has reloadable brass cases I used to own the exact same pistol that you are referring to and it was a sweet shooter. Many, many people assume the you could shoot 9x18Makarov in those. Be careful what you listen to from the usual gun shop commandos. I sell those 4 boxes for $50.00 plus UPS if you are interested....

    My reference notes that the barrel length for the P P Super is 3.6 inches. This is different from both the P P and the P P K S. It seems that a P P barrel would work as it's 3 7/8 inches. You would have to have it cut down though. Of course this would be contingent on the external barrel dimensions of both the P P and P P Super being the same.

    I seem to recall that this gun was also made in .380. Guess I'll just have to keep an eye out for a barrel.
