Pistol Transfer--PA to NY

Living in Suffolk Cnty NY. Have pistol license (non-carry), bought a pistol from a private collector in PA (Luger WW1). Probably has never been registered.

I have a C&L but in NY I cannot use it for pistols.

How do I get it here (NY)legally from PA? Bring it to a FFL dealer in PA and have him transfer it to a FFL dealer in NY?

    FFL to FFL is really all you have to try and legally bring the pistol into NY.

    Can I bring it to the PA FFL or does the person that I bought it from have to bring it to the PA FFL??

    You cannot "bring" it anywhere; the PA collector cannot allow you, a nonresident of PA, to take possession of the pistol. He must bring or send it to your NY dealer, who in turn will allow to you take possession of it.

    You need to discuss this with your NY dealer to be sure that he is willing to accept it from a nonlicensee. He may insist that the seller take it to a PA dealer, & have the PA dealer ship the gun to him.

    Called a PA Dealer and told him my story. NMYERS your right, the person that I bought it from must bring it to a PA dealer and then ship to the NY FFL dealer.

    Strongly suggest check out beforehand with Suffolk Co police if they will allow you to add pistol to your permit and if so, how. You could get the piece in the hands of a NY FFL dealer and be unable to get it registered. I had a Nassau Co. license many years and police were very sticky about transfers.

    Holy mackerel, I never thought of that scenario. What reason could the SCPD have in not adding the pistols to my existing license? The pnes that I am going to have transferred are all C&R.
    Is there a law or limit on how many pistols one can own and have registered??
    Thanks, I'll call the pistol licensing dept today.

    Ballistic.......The only shot you have is to get the Seller of the pistol in PA to bring it to his local FFL and have him Transfer it to
    your FFL holder on the island (check american outdoor sports on rout 110) i think its $30.00. FORGET about an FFL in this area receiving a pistol from a private seller direct. FFL to FFL only[^]
