870 Remington Express- magnum or not?

If my 870 Express has an M behind the serial #, does that mean it is a magnum receiver and will handle 3" shells or should it say Magnum somewhere on the receiver?

  it should also say 870 express magnum or super magnum on the left side of the receiver

  BARREL SHOULD ALSO SAY 3 INCH

  Every 12 gauge 870 Express i own can shoot 3 inch magnums, I think all express 12's can take 3 inchers but CHECK the barrel on the left side to be sure Better yet a Quick call to remington with the seriel Number will tell you for sure (if the barrel is not original).
