Hello all. I purchaesed a 1911 a few years ago and I am not sure what I have. I looked up the serial number and it said that it could be a Union Switch ands Signal or a Colt. It has a Colt slide but does not say colt on the frame. On the mag release side behind the triger are the letters GHD, on the trigger guard on the fron is a W. The serial number is 1687155. There are crossed cannons on the side just forward of the hammer. There is also some writing on the frame above and forward of the serial number. I can sen pics but can't figure out how to upload them here.
Thanks,

Nowlin
Wilson
Kimber

Springfield
Dan Wesson
And the list goes on, and on, and on................

Hello, the easier to answer question would be, "Who doesn't?" Who does: Colt, Kimber, Para-Ordinance, Brolin, Auto-Ordinance (Thompson), ETC. (this list goes on).

My vote goes to S/A, Kimber, [:D] (I just haven't messed with the others.)

I have a Kimber Custom CDP II and Wilson CQB. Both are great. 0 -
For the money, I think Kimbers are the best "out of the box". I've been a big Colt & Springfield fan because I like to "improve" my gun as I go along. But, if you want great accuracy, fit & finish, right out of the box, and at a reasonable price... Kimber is the way to go.

Best: Kimber
Better: Springfield "Loaded" series, Sig Arms, Smith and Wesson
Okay: Springfield, Colt
Avoid: Dan Wesson, Auto-Ordnance (softer metal), Norinco (softer metal, supporting commie Chinese gov't.), Charles Daly (ditto).0 -
I'm partial to Colts. 01091 I have. Love it.
Kimber has a bad rap here in the rural California area. Bad CSR when a problem occurs.
SA TRP - similar to FBI gun ... I want one ... $1600 for normal version.
$2400 /FBI (list) model

Add to the list:
Rock River and Argentine Systema Colt Modelo 1927 (when you can find 'em).
And don't forget the G.I. 1911s and A1s:
Colt, Remington-UMC, The Springfield Armory, Ithaca, Remington-Rand, Union Switch & Signal, and Singer (you should be so lucky! [:D])0 -
all the above
i own a springfield and i love it[:D]
