DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE HACKETT SPECIAL 12 GAUGE DOUBLE BARREL????? MY GUESS IS ITS A COACH GUN NAMED FOR GEORGE HACKETT OF WELLS FARGO. IT HAS NO BRAND NAME OR SERIAL NUMBER AND ITS ANCIENT.

There's a American maker of hammer doubles listed in my book. Edwin Hackett, He was in business for a relativly short period of time, from the late 1870's to the mid 1880's.
If you can give us all the markings/proof marks on your shotgun, we might be able to give you some additional information.

[^]THANKS I WILL AS SOON AS I GET IT CLEANED UP LATER THIS WEEK. ITS HAMMERLESS. IT DOESNT APPEAR TO BE DAMASCUS BARRELS. AND HAS "SILVER something" ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BARREL. I'LL KNOW MORE IN A FEW DAYS.0 -
EDWIN & GEORGE HACKETT, Maker of SPORTING ARMS in London, England, circa 1870...Not a shooter...barrel is London Fine Twist...If only wiped down with a light oil and patted dry with a soft cloth...WORTH UP TO $1000.00...Cleaned with Steelwool or Scraped and or Sanded makes it Worthless....or almost so.......$100.00 Wall Hanger...at that point..
