1st Model K-22(1931-1940)?
A Gun Shop, has a nearly, NIB(Hardly ever fired)1st Model, K-22(6" "Pencil" barrel)and, the S/N is 642XXX. The Gun Shop, wants $650, for this gun(They will accept, $600)but, is this price, in a "Reasonable" range, for a K-22, like this?
Also, with 19,500 shown as being produced, between 1931-1940, would this 1st Model K-22, "Arouse" much interest, from S&W gun "Collector's" or, not? Is this a desireable gun to own? Although, this K-22, is a very pretty gun(No wear and tear, at all, showing-and, no cylinder ring(Maybe, just a "Trace"?)and, the deep, blue-black, finish, looks new(And, really shines)I wonder, what would be a good price, for this gun?!
I would like to get, opinions, from Forum members, as to what they think, about this type of S&W gun(Or, if it is Desireable, as a "Collectible?)and, anything else, that can be said about this 1st Model K-22(Good, bad, or the "Ugly)?

Super revolver "Desireable, as a "Collectible?" In my opinion if it's not now it will be.
The only problem is they want $650 thats only about $300 to much
Here is one sold GB for $275

22WRF: However, the K-22, on Gunbroker, is not the much older(1931-1940)K-22 "Outdoorsman? The one, that I saw in the Gun Shop, for $650, is one that was made around 1933-1934! Shouldn't this make a difference, in price(Upwards?)? 0 -
Aimhigh,
If it's really that nice and the finish is all original,I'd buy it if you want one of these guns.
The original box should be red. If you pass on it, I'd appreciate the contact info for the shop. Email me direct at: jcalderman@alltel.net0 -
Auction revolver is a Model 17 and it went for a reasonable price ($310 + shipping, not $275) that reflects at or just below market.
Model being asked about is a 1st Model (pre-war) and as Aimhigh has mentioned in previous post he has the S&W Standard Catalog so he already knows that the 1st Models can run to $850 (per the book). And in the actual market place I'm aware of them going for $1,000+ (as new in box, no turn line, etc., etc.)
+++ Update - Saxon I've never seen them that high, but it sure don't suprise me ... market is really funny and regardless of caliber, pre-war's generally bring a heck of a premium. As for the revolver Aimhigh is referring to ... if it is a California sale that might be the reason that the price is low, but if that is the case then I don't see how he could, as a resident, buy the piece. But as a non-resident he could go FFL to FFL or seller to FFL. I don't try and stay up on CA do's and dont's because it's more work than I care to put in for a place that I only go to on business, and then as infrequently as I can get away with.[}:)]
