Taurus PT145 Millennium compact .45 ACP
I recently purchased a Taurus PT145 Millennium compact .45 ACP pistol. I only have about 400-500 rounds through it to this point. Today at the range, I was experiencing a ridiculous number of jams, about 4-5 per magazine full. My initial reaction is that the gun is dirty, but I have been cleaning it after each trip to the range, and this problem has been growing worse until today's unacceptable performance. According to the owner's manual, I should not attempt to disassemble the gun for cleaning. This goes against my instincts, but I have observed it up to this point. I just clean it the best I can without any disassembly. I did attempt to remove the pins for disassembly using the instructions in the owner's manual, but I couldn't budge them anyway. Friends with experiences with other guns advise me against removing these pins anyhow, with counsel that the pins may never seat back just right, and that with time and repetition, the holes will bend or enlarge and make the pins seat crooked or not at all. I also have yet to disassemble the magazine for cleaning, even though the owner's manual does suggest this, but I'm having a devil of a time depressing the magazine spring seat for disassembly. Are any other owners of this weapon having problems? I'd welcome any advice I can get. Thank you in advance for any insights you might be able to offer.

Welcome to GB Scott. I know you will find your answer here. You might try the search option in the upper right hand of the page and type in PT145 and see what you get from past posts. my 2 cents[8D]

My first question would be what ammo are you using and are you experimenting with several different makes/designs? My second is how are you holding it while shooting (single hand/two hand)? I had a PT111 and sold it after about 600-700 rounds. Things started coming loose (sights twice) and breaking (mag release springs), until I got to the point where I lost confidence in the weapon as a self protection weapon (if one of these things would have happened when I deployed it in the process of self defense I would probably not be writting this message right now). Taurus is a quality product and has a lifetime warranty, but three strikes and your out, know what I mean? 0 -
First, I want to thank all of you who have responded, and to those of you who will respond in the future. As for ammo, I have put quite a few Winchester 230 grain FMJs through it, as well as a few Mountaineer 200 grain FMJs. There has been another load too - Greg: do you remember what those bullets in the green box that you gave me were? I typically adopt a two-handed stance, but I have shot it single handed as well. Thanks again to everyone for your help. 0
