identity help
recieved a sxs 16 ga that has been diss-assembled in a cigar box by my father since i was about 14.
as i remember, it was mis-fireing regularly. (reason for the diss-assembly, for repair that never happened)
am trying to find out where/by whom it was made for my records and only markings are ser.#,
choke rectifie
portee garantic (these stamped over each other as shown but slightly overlapping on each barrel)
and acier dc
subft? (last letter/# illegible)
proof is crown over p t

Can only help you with the proof mark. My book shows it to be from the St. Etienne, France proof facility. It denotes proof with semi-smokeless powder, and came into use after 1900.
