    Good gun for that use. It's what it was designed for. Reliable and plenty accurate for a carry gun. -- They don't call them a Defender for nothing.......[:D]

    I've owned one for almost a year now and put about 2000 rounds though it. I have never had a problem with it. The only time it malfunctioned was when I was experementing with handloads that didnt have enough powder. The most accurate store bought ammo so far (and I have tested MANY brands) is the Sellier and Bellot 230 gr. I love the thing. It's pretty concealable and spits out a 45acp.

    COMPACT what kind of groups were you getting. I'm sort of leery of buying one because i cant look at one in person noone can get them. I will have to buy one over the internet.

    i owned a defender, bought it new 2002 for $565 thru a store in Massachutts.. it was nice but packed a helluva wallop when shooting either ball or personal defense loads. big noise, big sheet of flame, terrible kick and would be hard to hold on target, rapid fire while shooting at a target at 25 yards was impossible. maybe 1 or two on target. i hold a military expert hand gun medal. i presently own a full size 1911 a1 which i will soon sell, will go with a .44 revolver. my only use if for home protection, do not carry.

    Defender? Good carry. Mine's in .40.

    I've had a Defender since '99. I hit what I aim at and it's very reliable. Multiple rapid shots at 25 yards? Not what I usually think about in a compact carry gun. Accurate rapid shots at 10-15 yards, no problem. All in all a great carry weapon.
