Bulged Barrel
I have a s&w model 28 with a 6" barrel that has a bulge about 1/2 way down the barrel. Is this safe to shoot? Thanks! No liability intended on the answers.

DO NOT FIRE IT!! Whatever caused the bulge has made that part of the barrel weak, and it could 'explode' if fired again.
Contact S&W to see how to go about getting a new barrel, or sending it back to them for a new one.

copross, sounds like a bullet was stuck and it got fired again. Someone used up all the luck that barrel had! Don't even think it might have any left! 0 -
Reminds me of an antique .22 rifle dad has. Some idiot fired high velocity ammo out of a gun that should only take standard. The bulge isn't visible but can be felt with a patch and rod, where the patch gets 'loose'. He DOES shoot it but only with Aguila powderless ammo (primer only). at about 15 feet.

Can you shoot it again? Absolutely! Can you shoot it again safely? Absolutely not!
We load an explosive charge into a steel tube on purpose. Then we cap the backside and touch things off with full faith and confidence that whatever's in front of that charge will exit the muzzle of the tube and continue in the general direction we intended.
That's all bad enough... Right up to the point we stress the tube in some unknown way. And then we ask if it might not be safe to touch things off again?
As was stated above: All the luck in that tube has been used up. Don't push your good fortune.
