BATF visit to a C&R Holder
Has anyone here ever had a visit/inspection of their "Bound Book"
My question is, does everything in your Bound Book have to be present at that time?
For instance I loan my son one of my C&R's and it is not at my house at the time BATF shows up? But is listed as "In" in the book but not out.

22WRF,
That ain't the way it works! IF they ever wanna examine your book and I don't know anyone who had his book examined, they call you and make an appointment.
You have the option of going to their office. They do not kick down your door in the middle of the night, if it's a C&R license.

I don't know of any true collector with a C&R who has been audited. I believe that this is at the bottom of BATFE's list of important things to do.
I DO know of a couple of cases involving C&R holders who were trying to circumvent the restriction on dealing without an FFL. As long as you are using your license for the purpose listed in the regs, you have nothing to worry about.

I too don't personally know anyone who has ever been audited, but on another forum I visit, there are a couple guys who claim to have been audited before.
njretcop is correct, they call ahead to set up a time that works for you.
According to the two that had been audited before, the ATF just wanted to see their bound book. They never even wanted to see the actual guns. Claim it took just a few minutes and the agents were very friendly.
I would think that as long as your records are accurate and up-to-date, and you are not doing anything illegal (like using your C&R as a business to sell guns), then there would be no problems, even if you were ever audited.0
