I have the same in .303. I put 500 rounds through in 5 days of shooting last year. i have no reason to fault it. does yours have the 10 round clip? They are handy to have.

Parker-Hale was a world class firearms mfg., very well known in the gun world. In the late sixties, and into the 70's they imported mauser actions and offered the M.1200 sporting rifle. These actions were mfg in Spain, and were quite popular. The price sounds fair IMO.but you won't make money on it.

    Love them Pre-64's!!!!-Bob

I reduced the trigger weight by shortening the spring in the bolt. It was nearly 8lbs., then shortened the spring by3/4 inch and brought it to about 4 lbs.

The rifle has scope mounts on it and says made in Birmingham, England, but I don't see a model number on it anywhere. Plads, the magazine has a removeable floorplate, no "clip". Looks to hold 4 cartridges. I worked the bolt back and forth a few times and it feels very tight except when the bolt is pulled all the way back. It feels real loose and sloppy in that position. Is that normal in these actions? Salvage 33, I'm going back to take a look at it this afternoon.

Worry is the interest humans pay on the debt of miscalculation.

That is completely normal. When the bolt is pushed forward and the bolt handle down, it should be tighter than a bank safe. With the bolt open and pulled all the way back, you should experience a bit of "play" in the bolt...side to side, up and down. That is nothing to worry about.

The only other thing I would really check out is the bore..make sure that it is not pitted..at least not heavily. If there is a lot of pitting in the bore, the price should come down. But it's not a bad thing, since the rifle can be re-barreled relatively inexpensively.

But Parker-Hale rifles are top notch firearms. Like I said before, but it, and if you want your money back, contact me! :)

Salvage 33, Thanks again. I sent you an e-mail on the particulars. The bolt is exactly as you discribed. I am looking forward to redoing the wood. Robin
