ammo for Springfield M1A
I need some ammo for my 308 M1A. Is most ammo available today okay to use? I had heard that some of the Indian ammo may not be so good. Any advised is appreciated. Thanks, Matt.

Stay away from the Paki stuff and I'd leave the Indian stuff near if not at the bottom of my list. However, with the amount of other mfg. "surplus" ammo out there you'll have no problems getting good ammo.
Cheaper Than Dirt and even Midway occassionally have very good specials and then there are typically some good prices to be found at gun shows.

Matt, Welcome to the forum.
Indian ammo is likely to be corrosive, and you want to stay away from corr ammo, if possible. It can be used but you have to be very meticulous about cleaning afterward, and the cleaning should be done the same day you shot.
South African, Isreali, Australian, British, and most So American 7.62 are good choices. Most adds will state if the ammo is corr or not, if it does not, you can call and ask them.

Thanks guys. I read several posts after mine and I pretty much determined what ya'll are saying. There seems to be a lot of the Indian ammo for sale on gunbroker. I wasn't sure how good it was. Thanks, Matt. 0 -
anything made by a major ammo maker should be good to use. 0 -
Just my 2 cents, When you see the Israeli ammo in 147gr FMJs buy them
they (in my view) is the best mil ammo I have ever shot out of my (standard) M1a. It will hold (for me) no more 1/2"-3/8" @100 yrds.
@250 I still can hold them tidy in the 8 and 9 ring.
Got it from Cheaper than dirt . com
