Shotshell wad pressure
How do you determine the proper wad pressure when reloading?
My MEC 600 jr has a scale to maintain consistent pressure on the wad, but I can't find any tables to tell me what the proper pressure is.
BTW - I'm reloading 28 ga, Win hulls, wads (WAA28), IMR sr7625 powder at 14.4 gr. and win 209 primers, #9 shot @ 3/4 oz.
Thanks

wad psi increases as loads go up for hunting. for what youre doing, it should be zero, (0). youre not having to force more shot in a small space to get the crimp shut. youre ok. ive loaded millions on the 600. go for it with '0'.

If you're using plastic wads they don't need any pressure. The older felt wads did & that is what the scale is for. 0 -
With Plastic "1 piece" wads, set it so that you know you have bottomed the wad (5-10lb). More is not needed.
As previously stated the higher pressures are used with the paper and felt wad packs.
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0
