    Believe you may have a presentation or award piece.

    To begin with you need to provide the model number which, if your not familiar with S&W's, will be found on the frame cylinder yoke cutout.

    Next it would be helpful if you provided a picture or pictures of the revolver and case, including a good view of the engraving. If you can't post the images, you can email them to me and I will post them for you.

    Lastly, does the revolver have any documentation in/under the case liner or in a seperate envelope?

    *** UPDATE - Rcvd. email from poster. It's a 586 and if they send me pictures I will post them, but based on information supplied I've told them it's a $450-500+ piece w/ the case, and w/o documentation on the why and what of the presentation there is no value added. If I get pix I'll start a new post.
