Yep, it really depends on what kind of target shooting you want to do. Rifle? Handgun? And how much money and time do you want to spend. Your CMP does one type. http://www.odcmp.com/Competitions.htm
Your NRA does another. http://www.nra.org/
All types of shooting is equally as good. Competition shooting is fun. Surf by both sites, do a net search for more because there are all kinds and pick the ones you like and can afford.
Just remember that shooting is shooting. It doesn't matter what flavour you shoot. Try them all. That's where the most fun is to be had. Cowboy action shooting is another.
Target shooting just for the sake of shooting is ok too. It's not quite the same as competition though. Placing doesn't count. Nor does looking good. Shoot competitions because it's fun and you get to meet some of the best people you'll ever meet.0 -
