It has a football shaped scroll in the middle of the sides with triangular scrolls on the 4 corners of the sides,a little scroll on the forearm latch and a little scroll on top of receiver just behind the barrels. Also a circle with bursts at the hinge point of receiver, and the two screws behind triger gaurd on bottom of tang have little circles engraved around the flat of the screw. Thanks for your help.

you have a grade 1 28 ga. the stock tells me its an upland series gun. though choked skeet, its very much a proper gun for upland game and hunting.

ronk...i may have jumped the gun. i have the 1990 catalog right in front of me. tell me a little more about the forearm. is it a shnobble or a wide wedge skeet type? check the wood. does it match color? does it appear to have been replaced? your gun could be a skeet gun with a straight stock someone put on. the 28 ga guns made in 1990 were called lightnings and hunting models, not citori's...unless it was a genuine skeet gun with a high rib. does it have invectors or a fixed choke? is the rib low or high? is it marked japan or belgium? lmk....

Bob, the browning has a wide wedge skeet forearm, the wood all matches and with the long tang under the strait grip I`m sure it`s original. It is marked citori on bottom of receiver, and Japan on the barrel. The barrels are 28" The rib is high compared to my 12 & 20 gauges, but I think all 28`s look to have high ribs because of the smaller barrels. I`m wondering if Browning had special order guns back then and maybe that is why it has the unlisted designation #. I will try and contact Browning on Monday and see if they can tell me anything. I got on their website to late to find anything out tonight, other than what was already mentioned, so it will have to wait untill after the weekend. Thanks again for all your help.

sounds like someone special ordered a straight grip for his citori to me. it sounds like a genuine citori skeet with a hunting stock installed. btw..anyone can have ordered anything and it sounds like thats what your gun is. it was never cataloged as a factory variation. he must have liked shooting from the hip, thus the straight stock. it has the advantage over pistol grips...but for clay targets? weird, international is 12 ga only...he must have just liked it the way it is now, set up for hunting. let me know what happens on your search.[:)]
