Lorcin handguns
I just received a Lorcin l9mm from my father in law cause he said he cant see good enough to shoot anything anymore. He gave it to me for free which is good but the thing looks more fake than a plastic water gun. I am almost afraid to shoot it as even the owners manual warns about the gun firing randomly if chambered and cocked...Any ideas about how to get rid of this thing and for what type of money, or is it safe to test ammo with it at the range? I realize that the company is no longer is business and the gun should only retail for $175. Just curious mainly if its even possible to sell.[V]

They are basically "junk" ... very low cost pistols that are not reliable.
You might get $50 out of it at a gun show. Me, if I came into one I'd run it through my band saw and scrap the pieces as I would not be comfortable selling someone such a low quality gun.
Sorry to bust yer bubble, but that's the way I see this one.

Heh,heh, heh! [:D] Contender Man gets right down to it, doesn't he? Guess I share most of his views on this subject (the bandsaw idea is a little extreme), but you had pretty well figured most of it out for yourself; everything you have surmised is also true. But everything, even a Lorcin, has some value. I don't own one, have repaired several, but would consider it as a good fishing tacklebox gun or for placement somewhere in an environment in which I wouldn't wish to place a quality pistol. Get something better to carry. 0 -
Yup, ditto to what Der G said. (I sure end up agreeing with him alot.[;)])That pistol is an excellent candidate for a tackle box gun or some other such "throw away" use. I have an L380 that we use for a snake/pest gun when camping, and I tested out my ramping and polishing skills on its chamber (it rarely jams now[:D]). Because of the quality of the pistol I would also have a hard time passing it on to anyone. Keep it and use it for the dirty jobs would wouldn't use a good pistol for. Just don't ever load anything Hot in it. NO +P ammo, ever! Take it from a guy thats had them blow up in his hands.

I've had better luck with the L9mm guns functioning properly than the L380 guns. It's not a S&W candidate, but it works for plinking....

I buy and sell a lot of these. I have no problem with my conscience, since I tell people up front they are getting a CHEAP GUN, and it will not give a lifetime of heavy use.
Guns such as these are all some people can afford. Shall they go defenseless?

Look around for one of these "Gun buy back programs" out there. You know where they give you money for your gun, no questions asked.[;)] 0 -
LORCIN
DAVIS
JENNINGS
BRYCO
RAVEN
you get what you pay for. the lowest priced, mass produced gun in the shop is usualy the worst made, lowest quality, shortest lifespan gun in the shop.
we sell them here at the shop, but we usualy provide the above opinion with each sale. best regards, mike.

Back when I used to get gun tests magazine (good, brutal reviews.. I like that) they used to test Locrins... rare was the good word for them after the firing tests.
Quite of few of them over the years had become unsafe to fire after 50 rounds. One of them had the back of the slide crack and come off during test firing.0 -

I realize your not buying or selling it ... but one thing that I've never understood, for just a couple more bucks a person can buy a much higher quality surplus gun like a PA-63, CZ-52, Makarov ...
LORCIN, DAVIS, JENNINGS, BRYCO and RAVEN's life time warranty dont mean crap when its just crap in the box ... not that they wont fix it (if they are still in business) ... but when it malfunctions/breaks when you "NEED" it ... will you be able to collect?

A radio station in Orlando, Florida co-sponsors a "get the guns off the street" program with the Orland magic. For any sort of firearm brought in during this event, they will give you a great pair of tennis shoes. Last year, I took them an old rusty single barrel savage 12 gauge shotgun (with a badly pitted barrel) that sat around in my barn for years. They were happy to give me a $80.00 pair of tennis shoes for it. Look for these kind of programs to get something you can actually safely use.

Lifetime Warranty ... hmmmm that's be pretty short if the blasted things don't work at the time that you need 'em to.
Don't care if it's a tackle box, cuddy hole in the boat, deep woods shack, or any place else ... when I want to use the gun I want to be as certain as possible that it will work.
Selling junk guns to people that have little money is just not in me, there's a lot of S&W Model 10's out there with honest wear that are still in excellent mechancial condition and they can be had for under $150 ... to that you could add Taurus or Rossi used revolvers for around the same price range. Not slick, not trick, not high cap, but they go bang when you need them to and I'd rather have 5 or 6 that will go bang as 8 and more that might not get past the first or second round.
