THE MOST COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE IS CRACKED STOCKS, CHECK BOTH FRONT AND AFT.

Ditto what MikeWhiskey said. They are recoil operated with a spring like a Browning A5 and tend to crack the front of the forearms and alot of them crack around pistol grip in the buttstock end................[8D]

I have one in 12. Have had that thing since '76 and have burned a lot of powder with it. Have hunted deer, ducks, geese, rabbits, quail, pheseants, turkey and crows with it and had good results. Look for a bent barrel by taking it off and looking throough it. Mine came with a bent barrel and I learned to shoot it that way, no one else could hit anything with it, got a new barrel and had to learn how to shoot with it all over again. If the price is right, grab them.

    Thanks guys,
These two look like they came out of the same broom closet.Conditions are identical and both were made in '53.After a closer look,I don't see any cracks as were mentioned and both are good and tight although both could use some attention on the wood(honest use).I think I can get the pair for $300 or less.I know I'm gettin' the 20ga,but would like the 12 as well since I don't have one in semi-auto.

    Thanks again for the info,
    BW

IT'S WHAT PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THEMSELVES THAT MAKES THEM AFRAID.
