10/22 question
I have a ruger 10/22 and i shot it a bit this weekend. One thing I noticed is that the bolt does not stay open after the last round is fired. is this normal for this gun? I never really paid attention to it before...but I want to know if this is something that I need to fix before doing anything else to it.

Hi
I was wondering how you take the front sight off the barrel on a ruger 10/22. I drove out the blade, but is the base permanently attached? Dont wanna start pounding on it if its not going anywhere.
Thanks0 -
becker, No the bolt on the 10-22 is not supposed to lock open after the last, but you can have it modified to do so.
Some after market mags do not function as reliably as the factory mags. Generally, factory mags are your best bet. Try the Butler Creek plastic 25rd mags. I have a bunch of them and they work great.

thanks what type of mod would it be and how easy? Also a speed release? 0 -
They are available for about $60 or so. Here's one place I know of: http://www.gunsnstuff.net/p/016f.html They should be easy to put in since the 10/22 is really a snap to take apart. You can also add an extended magazine release for quicker reloads. 0 -
There is a very large listing of 10/22 after market products on "_Bay" and usually they have both the extended mag. release and modified bolt releases, but those releases do not hold the bolt back after the last shot, they just permit a fast bolt release by bumping the charging handle on the bolt. Useful for Sportsman or other competition that requires a start with an open bolt.
