Llama 45's, any advise, coments, any good
I have never seen any of llamas products until I started looking on gunbroker.com. I am curious about these guns because I want a 1911, but am on a tight budget. are they worth buying? any advise is appreciated. thanks.

From personal observations I don't hold a good opinion of Llama's products.
If money is tight and it is not feasible to wait things out while you save up a little more, then look at Charles Daly, and Rock Island Armory, new or used as either should serve you better than Llama.
Be careful if you see used upper end Springfields, or Colts at bargain prices because generally they are badly worn and/or have other mechanical problems.

I owned a Llama .45 duo-tone 1911 clone and never had a bit of trouble out of it. I ended up selling it and bought a Ruger P90. For the money, it was a accurate, reliable gun. This is the only Llama I ever owned. I saw a Rock Island clone at a local show for $299 and it was a nice looking gun. 0 -
The problem with Llamas is uneven quality. I've seen some that were trouble free for thousands of rounds, and others of the same vintage that were jam-o-matics.
I agree with the others that in a budget priced 1911, Charles Daly and Rock Island would be a better choice.0 -
I agree with Xracer. If you are looking for a good afordable .45acp look at the EAA Witness 45acp. Very good quality and the best of both worlds. My 2 cents [8D]

Hope your Llama never needs service cause it will take about six months to get it back from the warranty center. I would avoid Llamas as there are many better guns for not a whole lot more money around, like the Ruger P90 45ACP, or the Springfield MilSpec in 45ACP. Much better buy than the Llama.

Say, there, Spc Smith--that EAA Witness .45 suggestion was a good one! Very close to the same price you'd pay for the Llama, and an excellent pistol. I've got one and have no regrets. Llama is a good, basic pistol, but they often need a little slicking up to work right. The EAA was actually issued for awhile by a small-medium sized police dept. near where I live. Still, I'd rather have a Llama than some other pistols I can think of; but all of the preceding advice is good. 0 -
Of the 10-12 Llamas I have owned or worked on the greatest issue is as stated above, varying QC. Some were great shooters and served flawlessly. Others couldn't be de-bugged no matter how much time or money you threw at them. If you have to have a 1911 clone go Rock Island on a budget, if its just a 45acp youre after go for the Witness, terrible name, great gun.[;)]

I agree with Kuhlewulf. I've had several Rock Island 45's and a few of the Armscor guns. Nice guns for the price...

The Llama I had was so terrible that, in the unlikely event that you could get a round to feed and chamber, you could hold it 6" from your temple to kill yourself, and you'd miss. 0 -
The Llama I owned was a good one,but I still have more faith in a Ruger P-90 or 97. 0 -
I must have been lucky... the Government Model that I have owned for the past 14 years has been a real sweet heart... roughly 14,000 rounds through it, and not ONE jam for misfeed, and it is extremely accurate. The only problem I have ever had with it was a broken slide stop pin after about 10,000 rounds.

A friend of mine bought a Llama for his first .45 several years ago and we went to the range together to try it out...I felt sorry for him. It jammed alot, he wasn't long trading it off. I believe it was and Omni ? 0 -
