Look through the past searches and you will find a lot of old posts covering the two. I owned a remington 7mm ulra mag ss/synthetic for a while. It was very accurate out of the box with factory ammo. Under 1 inch groups. The only thing I didn't like about it was the 26in. barrel. I could get the factory and handloaded 140 grains to group very well, but I tried 160 grain and just couldn't get the accuracy I wanted. Probably was just my inability to come up with a good handload. It was a hunting gun and that was a little long for what I needed. Otherwise I loved it. I've thought about getting one in a Remington Sendero.
I think you will find between the stw and ultra ma the trajectory is almost the same. The ultra mag is probably a little flatter shooting in most cases.

the 7STW is slightly slower than the 7RUM. The only real advantage the RUM has is the ability to push heavier pills with greater amounts of slow powder, but again the gain is minimal at best. Either will do anything you need.

why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
    Got Balistics?

the um will burn or blow more powder out the barrel to get where the stw has already been.
