1911 & Hi-Powers
I'm planning to purchase a Hi-Power model automatic in 9mm soon. Browning is my first choice, but I was wondering if anyone has any information on the Charles Daly model?
I am also looking at a new model 1911. The Dan Wesson Pointman Minor PM3P has a very reasonable price. Can anyone offer advice on this handgun?

If you're going to get a Hi-Power get a Browning. The least I would have is an FN. I have always heard mixed reviews on the Daly handguns and know nobody with a HP. Go for the good stuff and rest assured that the gun will never lose its value if maintained.

Hey Xracer, the AH-1W or "wiskey" as its known is a MARINE corps bird. And, If you'll look closely at the picture those are U.S. GI's sitting there being instructed by the Thai Army soldier.
Our Cobras are really fun to watch though. The whole time I was at Hood I tried to get a ride, but no dice. They wouldn't even take a bribe. Damned Cav pilots get all the neat toys. Too bad the Army phased out all its Cobras and now only the Marines have them.

If your doing like a Versus kind of thing meaning if your wondering which you should get out of the Charles Daly or the Browning Hi-Power,I would say to definately get the Hi-Power of those 2 and if you want a single action 9mm and a .45 why not go with the other infamous John Browning design and get a real 1911-A1(like a Colt 70 series or a U.S. Mil-Spec,as close to his original design as you can get) not some foreign model.Get both made in the U.S. and have the perfect pair.

I have not tried the pointman minor but I do have a pointman major that is an excellent firearm,I have run over 2000rds and never had a problem of any kind,I also have a goldcup and a para and will put the dan wesson up againt them anyday for fit and accuracy but the finish is not quite as nice.As far as the hi-power always go browning and you will never go wrong. 0 -
am i the only one that hates hi powers because they all tend to have 14 lb trigger pulls?

The EAA and the CZ pistal line is a very good cross between the two. I would look at the .45acp EAA witness and if you really like it look at the 10mm. My 2 cents [8D]

Hey Bobski, You need to come shoot some of our Hi Powers. I've never had a real Browning HP with a heavy pull.

I bought a Canadian Inglis P35 with mismatched slide. The trigger linkage involves a toggle bar in the slide. As it was fitted to another pistol, it needed a little fitting and polishing. No big deal and the trigger pull is now very nice, light and short.
US 1911 pistols on the other hand don't require any hand fitting to function properly. any part will fit any pistol.0
