Kydex is tough, relatively inexpensive and UGLY, but the latter isn't apparently that big of a deal as more and more folks are buyin 'em.

Personally I like leather, but it is 3 times or more expensive for decent holsters. Kydex, I believe, put more wear on the finish of the gun, especially if your competing with the rig in IDPA or such and there is a lot of draw and holster action.

You answered your own question. They are good/bad/ugly. The higher end Kydex should not be confused with the cheap Fobus or Uncle Mikes. I never cared much for the Fobus or any other holster where I had to de-burr it to keep from cutting myself on the sharp edges. Most offer very good retention by clamping around the trigger guard but lordy they are ugly. For normal carry (not competition) they have not marred the finish on any gun I have used them on. Further they are impervious to sweat and moisture. I probably qualify as an old geezer so my preferance still lean toward the traditional leather.

Yeah, those kydex holsters aren't pretty. But my Glock ain't either.

I'm using an Uncle Mike's. I like it better than the Fobus because I can tighten up a couple of screws to adjust the tension. Fobus holsters can't be adjusted.

Punchie, what 'high end' kydex holsters are you talking about?
