Blunderbuss info please
I hate to sound stupid, but what did those things shoot? Is it a shotgun? I am a modern firearms enthusiast, and I have not read alot about the old weapons. Why the "bell" on the end of the barrel and what era did these come from? Civil war?

The BLUNDERBUS was developed so that a Man on a Rocking Coach or Running Horse could load the Barrel with out losing to much Powder or Shot....Hence...Funnel Barrel....!
Captain Kirk, Tech Staff0 -
Pre Civil War. Mostly pre-repeater. As stated by the good Captain... Easy to load under unfavorable conditions.
As to what was loaded... Just about anything you could force or pour down that barrel. Gravel, lead shot, broken glass shards... Didn't matter much at the range these were supposed to be used.
