super rat shot
Just recently I read some mention of loading 38/44/45 revolver cases with shot during handloading. Does anyone have any source for 'shot cups' that could be used. Just something similar to the 'wad cup' used in shotgun shell loading would be fine. I can use a variety of things to cover the top of the load to keep everything inside.
If we do not hang together we will certainly hang separately.

Hi, I got some of the shot cups you mentioned from Midway USA a couple of years ago. www.midwayusa.com Emery

A gas check by itself will work. Also there are speer capsules that fully enclose the shot load.

There is a description for this product at the link. The other two have pricing.

The ones made by Speer Bullets have worked the best for me. They come with the plastic capsules to hold and cover the shot.........[8D] 0 -
The capsules work best and are easier to load. They don't come apart under recoil. I believe they dont spread as fast as straight loaded shot. A heavy load of powder and a capsule full of #4 shot is a serious load out of a 1 1/2" barrel 38 Spl Chief. If my memory serves me right they'll almost penetrate a 1" board at 10 ft.
Have never tried the 44 or 45.
I've got some 45 colt loaded capsules by Remco that are probably collectors items or I would have tried some.0 -
Speer shot caps are my favorite. Pour melted beeswax into the loaded cap for more distance, works like a magsafe for home defense. 0
