308 / 7.62
I'm coming at this issue from the other side. Basically trying to use 7.62 x 51 in my .308 because at 8 dollars a box for 7.62 as opposed to 18 dollars a box for .308 it's cost effective. In any event thanks for the info you have all posted so far, now I know there is a difference and some issues that go along with that but if I do buy some 7.62 x 51 I should check the specs for my gun with the ammo I've bought and I should be okay, right? One last question about performance, distance vs impact power what should I expect using a .308 vs a 7.62 with similar loads and weights?
