2x seems to be the most common. my buddies use some kind of magnification even on their red dot scopes. i shoot with a 1x straight power classic cross hair 22 rifle scope. stay away from bottom pointers/posts and dots. cross hairs dont hide the target. get one with quick adjust wind and elevation knobs so you can tweak in your dope in between stations. make sure the back of the scope doesnt get in the way of your hammer. when you hold your gun, the gun is usually canted to the side as you hold it with your other hand. let it cant all you want, but mount your scope level so the hairs are up and down on target. in other words, rotate it in the rings so its perfect with the gun canted. how do you shoot? do you hold the gun out at arms length? if you do, dont. hold it in close to your eye and buy a rifle scope with a medium relief. are you going to shoot more than one caliber? buy a scope for evey bbl and leave them mounted forever. make sure all the scopes are all the same for ease of operation. anything else?

I hold the gun close to my eye using a "Taco Grip". Right now I am using the .22lr barrel. My plans are to get a .22 hornet asap. The reason I am changing scopes is that I could not get quick adjust knobs for my Nikon scope. I searched high and low but nobody carries the ones I need. I called Nikon and their tech department said that I was out of luck. But that's ok. It is a good excuse for an upgrade in scopes. Thanks for all your advice.

im old school. but seriously, many have gone to red dots. they are light and if you get a good one, you can dim down the dot so it isnt blocking the ram out. the dot must be able to be adjusted down very small for the ram. thats the trick, if you go with electronic scopes. try one.
