Help Please: correct load for Walker Replica
I have recently purchased a Uberti replica of a Colt Walker. It has been professionally "antiqued" and I love it. HOwever, it ddi not come with any papers and I am trying to figure out the proper load and ball size. I would really appreciate any insight this forum could offer.

Measure the mouth of each chamber. Add .004-.006 to the largest for the ball size. You want to shave off a ring of lead when you seat the ball.
Use fffg (3f) powder, start with about 1/2 a chamber full, seat the ball tight down onto the powder. As long as you can seat the ball flush or below you don't have to much powder in. Grease over the balls and a cap on each loaded chamber (important to prevent "circle firing", having more than 1 chamber go off at once).
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -
50 grains fffg and tight fitting ball. If you're trying for a maximum charge and can't seat the ball flush, remove the nipple and pick out some grains.
I've gotten some very good accuracy using 185 grain round nose semiwadcutter bullets, sized exactly to chamber diameter. out of Colt and Remington 44 Army revolvers. The loading cutout had to be slightly opened to get the bullet under the rammer.0
