Gander Mountain gunsmiths
Has anyone had any work done by Gander Mountain smiths. If so what is you opinion and what rates do they charge.
Also. what rate for gun repair would be considered average?

Anybody ever have any work done on a rifle by the gunsmiths at Gander Mountain stores?
I want to put a muzzle brake on my rifle but don't want to have to mail it out anywhere and I want a good job done on it ( so I won't attempt anything like that, myself [:)] )0 -

Myself I have not had them do any work for me. A buddy of mine had some work done at a location in Ohio and he was not pleased at all. I'm not sure on the details of the work he had done or what the problems were. Sorry I couldn't be more detailed.

lol-i went to the gander mountain gunsmith and asked about parts for an 870 express, and the guy did not even know what make the gun was. when i told him remington, he asked "rifle, shotgun, or pistol". he definetely did not know what he was doing. 0 -
Gander Mtn. is a chain ... you'll find some good "smiths" and you'll find duds ... I have heard that if a store can't get a good "smith" they just stick some poor putz in there and all of the work is really shipped out ... but take that statement for what it is ... as I have not had any actual experience with GM and gunsmithing. Gone in their stores a couple times, but I think they are a little on the high side and have not done any firearms business with them at all.
Regardless, there are good and not so good, and flat out bad. If your not sure ask to see some of their work or for references. If they get mad at your request(s) you don't want to do business with anyway.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
