P97 changing caliber
I was wondering if I would be able to switch to 9mm in my Ruger P97?? If so what would it take to do such?
Thanks

You will need a new slide, new frame, and a new barrel, as well as recoil spring and mag, ejector, etc. Basically a whole new gun, for all practical purposes. There isn't a practical way to convert a P97 to any other caliber, unless you did extensive modifications to the mag to take another caliber reliably, then changed out the top end to that caliber. The 9mm's and the 40S&W calibered Rugers are a double stack mag system as where the P97 is a single stack. When it is all said and done, it just really isn't practical. A 9mm to a 40cal or a 40cal to a 9mm isn't too tough, just a different slide and recoil spring along with that caliber's proper magazine, but the .45 caliber is a whole lot more complicated.
