TROUBLE LOCATING SERIAL NUMBER

HAVE A STEVENS MODEL 325A THAT I AM HAVING TROUBLE LOCATING
SERIAL NUMBER... CAN SEE NOTHING ON RECEIVER ... DOES ONE
HAVE TO REMOVE WOOD TO FIND NUMBER?

  The federal government did not require serial numbers on guns until 1968,I have seen many early stevens without serial numbers,maybe yours is one of those early guns.

  According to the limited info available to me the 325 was discontinued in 1950 so it is more than likely that there was no serial number.
