Value and mfg date of S&W
What would be a fair trade in price for a 617-1 in 22lr with a 6" barrel in 98% or better.Stainless,also Does CCE sound like the beginning of the serial #? Thanks in advance

The CCE is indeed a prefix to the serial number. It would date the gun to about 1997. Trade in value at a dealer will be considerably less than tha actual cash value of that, or virtually any other gun. Your best bet would be to sell the gun then buy the model you're considering trading for.
That 617 would likely sell for $400-$450 in most parts of the country, but don't be surprised if a dealer allows you less than $300 for it in a trade situation. Then of course, he'd price it at $450+ when he placed it in his display case.... [xx(]

Agree w/ Mark ... sell it outright, don't use as trade-in.
You've got a fine lil' revolver and my suggestion would be to just keep it ...
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0
